Behavioral Health Clinician

Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Behavioral Health Clinician for The Health Center at Faith Mission in Columbus, Ohio. Faith Mission is one of the largest homeless shelters in Columbus, Ohio, providing meals and shelter to men, women and Veterans with dignity and compassion.

Shift: Day (8 am- 5 pm)

Status: Full Time

Department: Health Center

REQUIREMENTS for a Behavioral Health Clinician with Lutheran Social Services:

  • LSW or MSW -required; LISW preferred.
  • Minimum two years working in a social service setting required.
  • Minimum two years (or equivalent of) in health care setting preferred.
  • Experience conducting diagnostic assessments.
  • Experience working with following or related populations: homelessness, behavioral health, substance abuse/addiction, chronic physical disabilities, HIV/HIV prevention & education strongly preferred.
  • Experience utilizing (minimally) the following techniques, interventions and EBP's: Motivational Interviewing skills, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction.
  • Administrative reporting experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES for a Behavioral Health Clinician with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Participates in the support and implementation of effective and quality behavioral health and case management services to be provided to the patients of the health center.
  • Deliver individualized "wrap around" integrated services that address the holistic needs of clients including healthcare, mental health, substance abuse treatment, as well as supportive services including employment, housing, transportation, etc
    • Establish services based on health intervention screening tools, including PHQ-2, PHQ-9, and SBIRT
    • Ensure prompt delivery of strength-based case management services, including the development of individualized treatment plans for clients in regard to behavioral health and/or recovery needs
    • Foster coordination among supportive services, medical, vision, dental, and psychiatric staff, as needed, to ensure the delivery of patient focused, integrated health care.
    • Ensure linkage and referral to a vast array of community resources that will provide long-term support for individuals
  • Provide initial diagnostic biopsychosocial assessment
    • Determine behavior health needs utilizing appropriate screening tools such as ASAM level of care, GAD, AUDIT-C
    • Coordinate and link clients with appropriate substance use disorder treatment and/or mental health services
    • Develop treatment plan based on diagnosis, strengths and needs.
  • Provide ongoing clinical services, such as counseling, group facilitation, and case management by using evidence-based therapy modalities including MI, CBT, DBT, and trauma-informed care
  • Participate in weekly team huddles to conduct case review of clients enrolled in the medication assisted treatment program.
  • Ensure prompt and accurate completion of required documentation within the electronic health record. Maintain clear and precise data and progress notes
  • Assist with crisis intervention and de-escalation by providing leadership and by modeling professional and calm problem-solving behavior for clients, colleagues, and the community.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Clinical and Supportive Services, provide supervision to student interns to enhance their educational experience by providing quality field instruction while also benefiting Faith Mission programs and fulfill learning agreements with institutions of higher learning.
  • Contribute to an atmosphere of safety, sanctuary, dignity, support, and resource through adherence to the Faith Mission Code of Ethics and Confidentiality Agreements and HIPPA requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
