Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Something Other Than Shelter (SOS) Clinician for CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence in Columbus, Ohio. LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence has been the sole resource for victims seeking shelter in Franklin County for more than four decades, providing a Temporary Emergency Shelter, 24-Hour Crisis Hotline, DV Counseling, Legal Advocacy, Peer Support Groups and more.

Something Other Than Shelter (SOS) Clinician

REQUIREMENTS for a SOS Clinician with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Education requirements: Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling
  • License requirements: LISW or LPCC
  • Experience with crisis intervention, case management and advocacy
  • Minimum of one-year experience in providing direct services with some knowledge of domestic violence, preferred.
  • Knowledge of DV, community resources, and ability to engage clients experiencing trauma

RESPONSIBILITIES for a SOS Clinician with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Provide consults to determine initial client need and desire to enter counseling
  • Provide complete and accurate diagnostic assessments/psychosocial histories.
  • Provide with the client Individualized Service Plans (ISE) with measurable/attainable goals/objectives, as well as advocacy and appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Provide on-going counseling focused on the ISP goals/objectives, as well as advocacy and appropriate referrals as needed.
  • Assist clients in increasing their self-worth, strengths and ability to control and take responsibility for their decisions and their future.
  • Participate in bi-weekly supervision with Clinical Supervisor including once a year observation.
  • Participate in monthly group supervisor, quarterly Peer Review meetings and schedule continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain complete and accurate client files in accordance with agency standards and timelines.
