REQUIREMENTS for a Health Center Director with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business, Human Services or related discipline required. Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years administrative experience in health care or human service-related organization
  • Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills are required
  • Demonstrates effective leadership, communication and managerial skills
  • Requires experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting
  • Ability to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals
  • Ability to organize, direct, prioritize, and delegate work appropriately
  • Excellent analytical skills necessary
  • Experience with federal regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of the theory and practice of organizational management, preferably in a health care and/or not-for-profit environment
  • Effective oral and written communication necessary
  • Ability to demonstrate positive customer service skills
  • Financial management skills

RESPONSIBILITIES for a Health Center Director with Lutheran Social Services:

  • Health Center Director as a full-time employee of the health center will act as HRSA Project Director
  • Participates in the support and implementation of the mission, vision and values of LSSCO, Faith Mission, the Health Center, and other Agency programs, including the delivery of high quality, patient focused, integrated health care
  • Responsible for working with staff to ensure that each person understands their responsibilities, the desired results associated with their work, and the resources available to achieve the results. Related to this is also the responsibility of training, developing, coaching and evaluating employees and volunteers as necessary to ensure they are capable for performing their duties and motivated to achieve peak productivity and performance
  • Provides leadership for the development of policies and procedures designed to guide activities, ensuring that the site operates in a consistent and high-quality manner
  • Collaborates with the Medical Director and Health Center Manager to ensure treatment protocols are developed and implemented and protocols are consistently administered and adhered to
  • Provides consistent communication to the EVP/COO and LSSCO Board, ensuring that information, reports, and materials are provided to clearly describe activities and progress toward agreed upon objectives
  • Participates in planning and problem solving
  • Complies with, personnel, nursing, medical, dental, chiropractic, behavioral health and clerical policies and procedures
  • Actively works with providers, staff and the community to develop health outreach programs as necessary
  • Work with Health Center Manager to encourage engagement and reinforce the volunteer role as an important resource to the Agency
  • Represents the organization at various community and/or business meetings and events; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies
  • Adheres to Agency standards, policies and Compliance Programs, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations (HIPAA, OSHA, OIG, guidelines, and other State and Federal laws). This also includes responding to and reporting any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices
  • Manages and monitors Health Center resources including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Adjusts staffing matrix based on program needs
  • Resolves problems related to staffing, utilization of facilities, equipment and supplies for the Health Center
  • Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotion, and disciplinary actions
  • Analyzes and recommends changes in organizational systems, policies and procedures and ensures their implementation
  • Actively participates in the evolution and refinement of the quality improvement process at the Center. Proactively monitors Health Center key performance indicators (KPIs) and makes recommendations to respond to abnormal results
  • Ensures adequacy of staffing and coordination of Health Center(s) schedule(s) which includes all providers and supporting staff members
  • Responsible for ensuring the operations processes for patient care are implemented. This includes staffing, data collection and interpretation of Health Center flow, appointment systems, patient recall process, ancillary services, and customer satisfaction
  • Assists in designing programs to meet primary health issues of the target community
  • Participates in professional development & continuing education activities to keep current with trends and practices in health care, HIPAA, and compliance programs, etc.
  • Develops annual program budgets and reviews/reports variances at monthly meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned
